Wine & Spirits 2007 Awards Winners
Here's a twist on the stereotype of the drink-sodden awards ceremony - an awards ceremony to recognise the world's best producers of wines and spirits. Now that's an event I'd like an invite to! The International Wine and Spirit Competition recently announced the winners of its 2007 trophies. The winners will receive their trophies at an Awards Banquet to be held in London in November, at which the winner of the V&S Trophy for Distiller of the Year will also be announced. Among the categories recognised by the IWSC, and the current trophy sponsors, are the Greenalls Trophy for Gin, the Brown-Forman Trophy for Worldwide Whiskey, the Distell Trophy for Worldwide Brandy and the Whyte & Mackay Trophy for Cask Strength Scotch Whisky. Great move by these sponsors to associate their names with these categories, thereby ensuring publicity and a natural assocation regardless of the performance of any of their own brands in the Competition.
