Legal Week Awards 2005
The shortlist has been announced for the Legal Week Awards 2005. These industry awards for the UK legal sector are administered by the journal Legal Week and the winners will be announced at a gala awards ceremony on November 30th at London's Old Billingsgate Market. The Legal Week Awards seek to recognise dedicated work conducted by in-house counsel as well as rewarding exceptional client service provided by legal firms. Unusually for awards schemes, the selection and judging process is conducted by a team of researchers from Legal Week, with no call for entries or nominations. This depth of research combined with the independent nature of the research team help ensure the credibility and prestige of these awards. The 2005 Legal Week Awards are sponsored by LexisNexis and produced in association with Wooden Spoon. The awards are divided according into Corporate Counsel Awards and Private Practice Awards, with a total of 22 individual categories to be recognised. Among the shortlisted finalists, Accenture, BP, Diageo, Pfizer, SITA and United Technologies Corporation will compete for the 'Global Department of the Year' award. Seven legal firms will contest the 'International Firm of the Year' award while six firms are shortlisted for new category of 'Mid-market Corporate Team of the Year'.
