The Manufacturing Excellence (MX) Awards 2005 were held at London's Dorchester Hotel last week. Organised by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and supported by the UK Department of Trade & Industry, the awards seek to recognise and celebrate world class manufacturing performance in the UK. The MX Awards have been running for 25 years and as part of the honours, winning companies and projects receive a custom made trophy. This year's awards were drawn from 118 entries and the selection process involved the submission of benchmarking reports as well as day-long on-site assessments.
Partners and sponsors of the MX 2005 Awards included RSM Robson Rhodes, KellySearch, Manufacturing Advisory Service, EFF (the manufacturers' organisation), Renishaw, Sandvik Coromant, Warwick Manufacturing Group, Professional Engineering, Barclays, IBM, The Manufacturing Foundation, National Business to Business Centre, and the UK Resource Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (UKRC). A list of winners is available at the MX 2005 Awards web site.
