UK Women Recognised in Business and Glamour Awards

Two very different awards ceremonies took place in London this, both of them recognising the achievements of women in different fields. The Glamour magazine Women of the Year Awards was a star-studded event, with Desperate Housewives actress Teri Hatcher winning two awards along with the Editor's special award. The awards, co-sponsored by Amor Amor and Cacharel, were selected in part by the magazine's print and online readership. Award categories included best UK TV Actress, UK Solo Artist, TV Personality, Writer, Fashion Designer and the Amor Amor Woman of the Year Award.

Meanwhile at the Park Lane Hilton the CBI First Women Awards were presented on Wednesday night. These awards, organised by the CBI (Confederation of British Industry), seek to recognise women who have broken through the 'glass ceiling' and achieved a real 'first' for women in their chosen business field. These prestigious business awards were sponsored by a host of familiar brands: 02, Barclays, Business Link, Investec Private Bank, Nokia, Pfizer, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Veredus. The awards recognised ten women in eight categories plus two lifetime achievement awards.
