The online magazine firstname.lastname@example.org has announced the winners of its inaugural Employer of the Year Awards. Launched to mark the first birthday of the ezine, the awards seek to highlight the issues affecting working mothers and to recognise employers with a flexible approach to time and workloads as well as a positive attitude towards pregnancy and healthcare. The awards ceremony was held at London's Atlantic Bar and Grill with special guests including CBI Entrepreneur of the Year Penny Streeter, BBC Radio 2's Janey Lee Grace and Sarah Brown, wife of Chancellor Gordon Brown. Winners of the award for Best Work-Life Balance Approach were the online bank First Direct, with second place going to Eli Lilly and third spot to Merton College. Other awards include one for best Individual Story of Support by an Employer and another for Most Exceptional Working Mother. All the awards winners received a flat glass awards trophy. The winner of the Most Exceptional Working Mother category also received a glamorous night out in London's West End, courtesy of award sponsor Theatre Tokens.
