The Marketing Society has announced the winners of its Awards for Excellence 2005 at a gala dinner held at the Hilton Park Lane hotel in London. The awards seek to recognise excellence in marketing in England and Wales (a separate award is available for Scotland). The awards are run in association with Marketing magazine and supported by accenture. Sponsors for the awards include Unilever, Insead, ITV, Seven Worldwide and Vivaldi Partners.
Winner of the prestigious Marketer of the Year award was Mark Palmer, managing director of organic chocolate and confectionery company Green & Black's. The company reported sales growth of 63% for 2003-2004 in a market that grew by on 2.1%, making Green & Black's the fastest-growing UK confectionery brand. The Grand Prix award for the most outstanding piece of marketing went to Tesco for the its 'Every little helps' campaign.
