The business community in east Scotland attended a prestigious awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Dundee last week as the 2005 Tayside Business Awards were announced. The awards are organised by Scottish Enterprise and this year were supported by Perth and Kinross Council, Miller Hendry, Dundee College, Michelin Tyre plc, Tayside Business Gateway, Dundee City Council and Angus Ahead. Principal sponsorship was provided by Royal Bank of Scotland. The ceremony was compered by local celebrity Dougie Vipond, a TV presenter and founding member of the pop group Deacon Blue. The Tayside Business Awards were presented in eight categories: Best Performing Business (over 25 employees); Best Performing Business (under 25 employees); Most Entrepreneurial Young Company; Business in the Community; E-Business; Innovation & Creativity; International Business; and Excellence in Skills & Learning. The 2005 Awards are the third year that the Tayside Business Awards have been held, and are set to become a key date in the Scottish business awards calandar.
